Azerbaijan Celebrates June 15th – National Salvation Day
Today, on June 15th, Azerbaijan proudly celebrates National Salvation Day, a date etched in golden letters into the history of Azerbaijani statehood. This momentous day commemorates the return of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to power in 1993, a pivotal event that rescued our homeland from a severe socio-political crisis and set it on an irreversible path of stability and development.
In the early 1990s, Azerbaijan faced immense internal turmoil and external threats, teetering on the brink of civil war and losing control over its territories. It was at this critical juncture that the Azerbaijani people, in a display of profound trust and hope, appealed to Heydar Aliyev, the revered leader whose wisdom and experience were desperately needed. His return to Baku from Nakhchivan and assumption of leadership on June 15, 1993, marked a turning point, averting national catastrophe and laying the robust foundations for an independent, strong, and sovereign Azerbaijan.
Under National Leader Heydar Aliyev's visionary leadership, the country embarked on comprehensive reforms, established a rule of law, built a professional army, and pursued a balanced foreign policy. His strategic decisions and unwavering commitment ensured Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, economic prosperity, and international recognition. The legacy of Heydar Aliyev continues to be the guiding principle for the contemporary development of Azerbaijan.
On this significant day, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our compatriots, both in Azerbaijan and abroad. National Salvation Day is a testament to the resilience of the Azerbaijani nation and a reminder of the indispensable role of its Great Leader in shaping the destiny of our modern state.
