Brief historical background: recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Fiji were established on March 18, 2010.
On December 23, 2013, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, signed a decree on the appointment of R. Jamshidov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Australian Union, and at the same time, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Fiji.
High-level reciprocal visits
On May 13, 2014, Ambassador R. Jamshidov, who was on a visit to Fiji, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Fiji, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau. During the visit, the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in various fields were discussed in the meetings held between the heads of state of Fiji.
Cooperation in the fields:
1. In the political field: Azerbaijan and Fiji cooperate within the framework of the UN.
2. Humanitarian field: students from Fiji participate in training courses of ADA University of Azerbaijan.
Contract-legal basis of bilateral cooperation: On March 18, 2010, the Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Fiji was signed.
